Sorry this is late but just found out and sorry for your loss. I knew Rick in High School and remember jamming down in his parents cellar on Western Pkwy in Schenectady. He was a great Lead player and I gave him his best run he ever jammed with playing bass with Rit Greenwood playing drums. Prayers to you and family and for Rick as he watches all of his family from heaven.
Thomas S. Kitler.

What can I say? I’m absolutely devastated by the news.
II got to know Dick through the Vintage British Diecasts Forum, where we regularly traded private messages about early models, new discoveries, and the latest offerings on Ebay. Although I never met him in person, I regarded him as a friend (something I’m now glad I told him only last week in in a PM).
Both the Forum and my Inbox will seem empty and desolate without his regular contributions.
You have my deepest sympathies at this difficult time.

Sally and boys. I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man in your lives. My heart breaks for you all and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. He was a kind and friendly man and will be missed.

Ricky was a true and dependable cousin a favorite of our family especially our dad. What always impressed me the most about him was his kindness and calm demeanor. Just the mention of his name brings a smile to my face. May God receive him into Heaven with all fine blessings. Fondly, Dick Grabowski

Dick will be sorely missed.
Under his gruff exterior, Dick was kind, generous and friendly. He was always willing to share stories of his youth growing up in Schenectady. His knowledge in his areas of interest was encyclopedic.
Dick was a teacher and a researcher digging through layers of the culture of our youth.
Dick introduced me to the international VBD website and opened up the world for me; I thought I was the only one who enjoyed old toys. Now the VDB community has been pouring out heart felt responses from across the globe after hearing the news of Dicks passing.
He will be missed.
My deepest sympathies.

I met Dick many years ago on my matchbox trips from England to the East coast. From that time we became great friends. He was so knowledgeable about our hobby and was a pleasure to know. I last met him less than two years ago when his happy approach and dedication to the hobby was as infectious as ever.
I will miss him greatly and my sincere condolences are extended to his family. He was a wonderful person and I count myself fortunate to have known him. RIP Dick.

Sally and family. My husband and Dick were good friends through the scrap business. I met him several times over the years. He was a good friend, fun conversationalist, and helped Russ and I through some tough spots. His heart was always open, his humor unending, and we really appreciated that he was genuine and could be trusted in whatever he said and did. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered! Prayers for strength and comfort to you all. Russ and Deb Moore

Dear Sally, Richard, Daniel and Steen.
Please accept my condolences at the loss of Dick. He became a close friend of mine through the Matchbox model collectors forum here in the UK.
To read of this sudden sad news is so heartbreaking for me as having lost my Father just over a year ago.
I am part owner of a very rare matchbox model with Dick and was making plans to have the model sent over for Dick to enjoy and ask him if he was ready to take over full ownership, but this will now not take place and I will sort something out for the model at a later date.
Dick was such a fun guy and always enjoyed taking part in the fun we model collectors made of him as the 'Caveman' and his apparant skill of never posting pictures of models to our collectors forum.
I often posted cartoon pictures of Cavemen struggling with concrete versions of technology such as a home computer and Dick loved it!
I wish I was in a position to come across to your country and pay my tribute to him and spend some time with you and Dick's Sons, but sadly I am unable to this.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to post this and thank you for having Dick the way he was, a very friendly, lovable man who will be missed by many friends and model collectors around the world.
Best regards,
Kevin.
