Obituary of Lena Belive

Lena Belive age 98 yrs. of Amsterdam passed away April 5, 2018 with her loving family by her side at the River Ridge Living Center.

She was born June 18, 1919 in Amsterdam, NY, and is the daughter of the late Frank and Caroline (Amuso)  Cannizzaro.

Lena is survived by her son Robert (Ellie) Belive of Glenville, NY, and a daughter Patricia Drygula of Hagaman, a granddaughter Jodi Drygula (Tommy Murtaugh), and a great grandson Alexander Murtagh.  Also by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Besides her parents she is also predeceased by her husband John who passed away in 1985, 2 brothers Dominick Cannizzaro, and Sam Cannizzaro, and a sister
Tina DeLorenzo.

Relatives and friend are invited to call at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Homes 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 on Monday April 9, 2018 from 4 pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial  will take place Tuesday April 10, 2018 at 11:15 am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church 39 St. John St, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker. Burial will follow in the family plot of St. Michael’s Cemetery.

During her lifetime Lena was employed at Martin Jay Dress Shop, and later retiring from Miller’s Men’s Clothing Store. She was a member of the Alter Rosary Society of St. Michael’s Church, and she loved to bowl, play cards , and enjoyed going to the casino. Most of all she loved her family dearly and would always try to instill in everyone her favorite word “RESPECT”.

In lieu of flowers Contributions in Lena’s memory may be made to the Office for Aging, 135 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to a charity of your choice.
