Obituary of Donna Ellithorpe

Donna B. Ellithorpe, age 80, of Gloversville, passed away Monday morning, January 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. She was born June 6, 1937 in Prescott, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Phillips) Berard. She came to Gloversville as a child and remained a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of the Class of 1955, Gloversville High School. Donna was married for 53 years to Veryl "Tink" Ellithorpe who passed away in 2010. She is survived by two sons: Mark Ellithorpe (Lori) of Gloversville and Andrew Ellithorpe (Catherine) of Suffield, CT; two brothers: George Berard (Helen) of Vienna, VA and Alton Berard of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Wanneta Berard of Abbeville, SC. Also surviving are beloved grandchildren, Matthew Ellithorpe (Jodie) of Gloversville, Emily, Christopher and Margaret Ellithorpe of CT; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She worked at Mayfield Central School for 27 years, retiring as Secretary to the Superintendent in 1995. She was inducted into the Mayfield "Wall of Dedication" in 2010. An active member of the Mayfield United Methodist Church and volunteering in many community organizations made for a full, active and happy retirement. Donna was also Past President of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4pm Saturday, January 20 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville. A memorial celebration of life will take place 1pm Sunday, January 21 at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, 20 Main St; with the Rev. Jerry Oliver officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Mayfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Mayfield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 203, Mayfield, NY 12117.
