Obituary of Albert Wadsworth

(Albert) Bruce Wadsworth of Fultonville, died peacefully on Friday, June 24th 2016. Born on August 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert (Poppy) Wadsworth and (Mary) Jane Dockstader. He grew up in Fonda, graduating in 1950 from the Fonda High School. He married his High School sweetheart, (Genevieve) Jennie Aldi, September 20, 1953, and entered the Navy that same year during the Korean War, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain. When he returned home, he attended SUNY Albany where he earned a Master's Degree in Education. His entire 35 year career was spent educating students. He truly loved the profession, starting first in Canajoharie, Fonda-Fultonville, then St. Johnsville, and then finally at FMCC where he concluded his career with 30 years of service. Bruce moved to Fultonville in 1965 with Jennie, where they raised two children and served in many community activities including the Fonda Reformed Church, Johnstown Moose, Phi Theta Kappa chapter at FMCC, FMCC Teachers' Union, FFAVAC, Little League, Lions Club, American Legion, The Boy Scouts, The Fonda-Fultonville Board of Education, and closest to his heart, VFW Post 942 where he served as an Officer for 20 years. Bruce is survived, by his wife of 62 years Jennie; a son, Doug (Michele) of Glen, NY; a daughter, Mary of Canajoharie; grandchildren Evan (Julia) of Pompano Beach FL, Brianna of Mesa AZ, Shelby of Glen, NY; and his adopted Fresh-Air Fund Son Stephen Brown of Orlando, FL. In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by three siblings, all of Fonda: brother Preston and sisters, Jean and Beverly. Bruce's legacy of Faith, Humility and Compassion will live on in the values that have been given to his family. In keeping with Bruce's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at the Fonda Reformed Church on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:30a.m. Burial will be private at the Evergreen Cemetery. The Family wishes to thank all the wonderful people of the 4th Floor St Mary's Hospital, and Community Hospice of Amsterdam for their care and compassion given to our family. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made in Bruce's memory to the Fonda Reformed Church, 19-21 Broadway Fonda, NY 12068.
