Obituary of Mary R. Cappuccio

Mrs. Mary R. Cappuccio, 87, of Division Street, Amsterdam died peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side. Born on November 13, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Natolina Bianchi Palombi. A lifelong area resident, Mary attended St. Mary's Institute and later graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was employed at various local companies and retired from The Amsterdam Recorder as an insert operator after 25 years of service. On November 6, 1955 she was united in marriage to Gaetano J. "Guy" Cappuccio. Together for over 60 years they shared a wonderful marriage. Mary was devoted to her faith and an active parishioner of the Catholic community, serving and volunteering in many different capacities. She also enjoyed traveling and the occasional trip to the Casino. Above all, she loved her family dearly, devoting most of her time to them and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Joseph D. Cappuccio; and her siblings, Phyllis DeLuccia, Anthony Palombi, John (Josephine) Palombi; and a sister in law, Carol Olsen Palombi. Survivors include her husband, Guy; sons, Guy (Valerie) Cappuccio and Michael (Lise) Cappuccio, all of Amsterdam, NY; one daughter in law, Kathy Cappuccio of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) Cappuccio, David (Kayla) Cappuccio, Eric Cappuccio and Kaylee Cappuccio; two great grandchildren, Joseph and Nora Cappuccio; siblings, Alfred (Grace) Palombi and Jerry Palombi; a brother in law, Peter DeLuccia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10:15a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
