Obituary of Elizabeth B. Wood

Elizabeth ?Bette? B. Wood, 83, of State Highway 161, died Tuesday afternoon at her home with her loving family at her side. Born May 16, 1921, in Panama City, Panama, she was the daughter of Frank and Laura Sauerwein Baker. She has resided in Glen for 35 years. Bette was a graduate of a High School in Plainesville, New Jersey and later graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors Degree in Science with her major in chemistry. For a few years she was employed as a chemist for the Bakelite Corporation in New Jersey before becoming a full time homemaker. Bette was an active member of the Glen Reformed Church and the women?s activities of the church, and a member of the Mineral Club in Gloversville and its National Organization. On May 27, 1942, she married Ernest H. Wood. Besides her husband, survivors include; three sons, Raymond E. Wood of New Hartford, NY, Jonathan C. Wood of Ben Lomond, California, and Geoffrey S. Wood of Amsterdam; a daughter, Linda M. Wood of Tucson, Arizona. The funeral service will be held on Saturday February 12 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Glen Reformed Church, State Highway 161, Glen, NY with the Rev. Charles Hesselink officiating. Cremation will follow at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4 to 7p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be conducted at 6:45 Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Bette?s memory to the Glen Reformed Church.
