I first met Bette and Ernie when I was 12. Jon and I were best friends and they came as a part of the package. They ended up as a second set of parents during my teenage years the one's that didn't have to pay for college.
I have so many fond memories of Bette. First, she always reminded me of June Allison, which gave her a special quality. I also remember Linda and Bette seemed to be baking all the time. Until then it never occured to me that cakes came from somewhere other than the supermarket. I'd be sleeping over, there for dinner too often I'm sure, even helping with the yard work if I somehow couldn't figure out how to avoid it and they were there being kind and supportive. They are always part of the memory of my youth, no matter how long ago that might be. Bette and Ernie had a lot of influence on me, even though I'm sure they never knew it.
The last memory I have of Bette was when she was sitting with my newborn daughter in her lap. That was quite a while ago, but is a wonderful memory that Diane and I carry with us to this day.
Our love and condolences go out to all of you, Ernie, Jon, Linda, Geoff and Ray.

I have known Bette only from the mineral club but she was always very very nice and friendly. We have really missed her and Ernie at our meetings of the Fulton County Mineral Club. Our sincere condolences to you Ernie and the whole family from all of us in the mineral club. Bette was a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with you.

Bette Wood was a kind and generous woman and a wonderful mother-in-law. She treated me like one of her own, and she will be greatly missed.

My Mom.
Always there, always helpful, never asking for anything in return.
Even when I was 19, she was there for me -- and that was an interesting year !!
Lots of good times and terrible ones, we got through it all with great love and respect.
Every year, Mom and Dad came west to Tucson for the Annual Gem Show -- What a blast!! I remember the year we went down to Nogales, Mexico to eat and shop, and who did we meet but a good rockhound friend of Mom's from Gloversville !!!
Small world.
I'm very glad we live in an era of email - which Mom loved- and cell phones, and the like -- we we always able to be near each other.
And, the pasts few months I have been here, in Glen with Mom, are days and hours I will always treasure. We got a lot of talking done, things said, a good time for both of us--
Bye, bye, Mom, I love you.
Love,
Your daughter,
Linda
