Obituary?Phoebe E. Politz
Pattersonville, NY?Phoebe E. Politz, 97, formerly of Pearl Street in Bangor, Maine, resident of Rynex Road in Pattersonville, NY, died Thursday evening at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born July 25, 1907, in Millinocket, Maine, she was the daughter of Joseph and Selina Thomas Kalel. She lived in Bangor, Maine most of her life until moving to Pattersonville, New York two years ago to be with her daughter. She was a graduate of the John Baptist High School in Bangor.
Phoebe was employed as a crossing guard for 35 years in Bangor, starting in 1952.
She was a member of the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary from 1986 to 2002, retiring from the auxiliary at the age of 95. She was a communicant of St. John?s Roman Catholic Church in Bangor and St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church in Rotterdam Junction, N.Y.
For years Phoebe loved reading and doing the crossword puzzles in the Bangor Daily News, first thing in the morning. She also loved her cat Van Gogh.
On April 29, 1937, she married Walter ?Tex? L. Politz, who died November 6, 1986.
Survivor?s include her loving family; a son, Robert Politz and his wife Caryn of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Carol Duchesne and her husband Bob of Pattersonville, NY; three grandchildren, Mark Duchesne and his wife Kathy of Scotia, NY, Lori McCann of Rotterdam Junction, NY and Lea Duchesne of Taberton, Sand Lake, NY.; two great grandchildren, Courtney and Jared Duchesne.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 14, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Margaret?s Roman Catholic Church, Rotterdam Junction, N.Y. with the Rev. Dennis Murphy celebrant. Burial will take place in spring in Van Vechten Cemetery, Pattersonville, NY. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made in Phoebe?s memory to the St. John?s Roman Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, Maine, or to St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Rotterdam Junction, N.Y. 12150 or to the Rotterdam District no.4, Equipment Fund, P.O. Box 77, Pattersonville, N.Y. 12132
