I just heard about Phoebe in the John Bapst Memorial High School Alumni newsletter. I grew up in Bangor seeing Phoebe every school day on my way to St. John's School. Her corner was in front of my Dad's shop on the corner of State and Forest. Some of my best childhood memories involved talking to her before and after school. Phoebe was a wonderful and sweet person who always had a kind word for all of the children that she safeguarded across the street. Even though I moved from Bangor more than ten years ago, from time to time I thought of Phoebe and wondered how she was doing. Phoebe, you will be missed.
Love, Tony

Memories. As a young boy at St. John's School, Phoebe watched us at the Forest Avenue and State Street crosswalk and cared for us as though we were her own. She always smiled and carried a firm hand that we all knew and respected.
That time raced by and then my children used that same crosswalk daily in route to St. John's. As always Phobe was there watching and caring, protecting all those children from all harm.
What a Jewel she has been for all who passed her way! I will remember her always, that wonderful smile and friendly wave each time I had an occasion to drive by her way. Thank you for sharing Phoebe with all of us. You are all in my prayers.
With love and regret at her passing, she is in the arms of the Lord and I wonder what job he may have for her wonderful talent?
Sincerely,
The Gosselin Families

It is so difficult when a loved one leaves us, especially a Mom. As I renewed my friendship with your Mom while working at EMMC, I again realized what a terrific person she was. She was always smiling, happy and so nice to everyone. She had soooo much energy. My daughter, Sue - also a nurse, sensed this great personality immediately and they developed a unique and wonderful relationship. We have missed her so much since she moved. You have our sincerest sympathy in your loss.

My deepest sympathy to Phoebe's family. For several years I had the pleasure of knowing Phoebe as she spread her special joy and hope to EMMC patients. Her retirement left a huge hole in the heart of EMMC. Rest in peace Phoebe, but I doubt you will. Heaven will never be the same now that you have arrived!

I was sorry to hear of Pheobe's passing. I remember visiting her in Bangor. In the morning she would be up bright and early doing the crossword and jumble in the paper with doughnuts on the table and walking down to the store with me. You will be greatly missed. My prayers and love go out to your family. God Bless You.

it is amazing how one kind, humble individual can touch so many people. phoebe was that person. my older sister, Elaine, my younger sister, Lisa, and I all walked from our home in Bangor to Abraham Lincoln School and back home every school day, crossing the busy street with the supervision of the kindest and most pleasant crossing guard on the face of the earth, Phoebe Politz. She had the ability to make every child feel special and protected. I had the pleasure of renewing my friendship with her shortly before she moved from Bangor to live with her daughter, Carol. The City of Bangor and this planet has lost such a wonderful person with the passing of Phoebe. My condolences to her family. The memories of her will survive.

This world will miss a woman who gave to others every day of her life. If I had to choose my parents all over again, I would pick the same ones for I could never make a better choice. God bless and keep you Mom. You are the closest person to a saint I have ever known and I know you will be forever happy with Him in Heaven. Thank you for being who you were.

Bangor was so very fortunate to have had Phoebe for so many years. She contributed a lot to our community. I was sad to see her leave for NY but I was happy for you Carol to be able to spend time with your dear Mother. You can be very proud of her.

Phoebe,"I will remember you". You always had a smile for all of us walking along State St on our way to St. John's School. I think you knew everyone's name and we knew yours. You were always proud of your uniform, hat and all! No bullies pushed me around while you were near! Thanks for being there for all of us - We loved you then and we are thinking of you now. God Bless You Phoebe !
