Dear Rich&Deb, Gail & Rich and Billy:
I am so sorry to hear that you lost your wonderful Dad. He really was so special. He had such a kind way about him, always interested in what you were doing, always willing to help. I know my Dad will miss him a lot, as well as Aunt Mary, Aunt Mal, Uncle Joe, Uncle Jake and especially Uncle Bob. I really wish I didn't live so far away. I heard the Memorial Mass was wonderful, with touching remembrances.
I can still see Uncle Sam after Uncle Mike died so suddenly, sitting on the couch at Aunt Carm's, looking totally lost, even tho her house was full of people. Now I picture him with everybody up there, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Mary, Christopher, Uncle Harry, Uncle John, Uncle Tony, Aunt Carmie, Uncle Mike and lots & lots of "Columbian Club" members. He really is the lucky one. We all miss him but if he wasn't going to bounce back of course he's where he belongs. You sure were blessed to have had him for so long.
Margaux, Ryan and David were sad to hear of your loss and offer their condolences. I will pray for peace & comfort for your whole family. Love Always , Kathy Myers

Rich, Billy and the LaBate Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences in the loss of one of the nicest men we have ever met.
He was a very personal family man and a friend to all who met and knew him.
I clearly see the days sitting in the bleachers at Lynch Middle School with him watching a AHS Football game and how he enjoyed being around his family and friends.
The City of Amsterdam is going to miss him with the wealth of knowledge he had about Amsterdam's water system.
I have known him for many years when I was a City Police Officer and he always greeted me with a smile and hello.
He was a great man and surely somewhere in heaven he will look down on all of us with a big smile, knowing he fullfilled his mission on earth and the rest of you will carry on as a family like you always have.

To Sam's Children and family -- I have fond memories of your father. He assisted me with many social events for Noteworthy and Tom Constantino over 25 years. My late husband, Dave, was also fond of Sam and respected him for his knowledge with the city water department. Treasure your memories -- he was a kind and gentle man. I'm sure Dave and Tom will be part of the welcoming committee in heaven.

To the LaBate Family. On behalh of the City of Amsterdam I want to send our deepest sympathy and sorrow for your loss. Sam was an icon in the Department of Public Works. His vast knowledge of the Water System in this old City was respected and valued. The City has lost a great man.
As a personal friend of my family, we send condolences and love to you all in this time of sorrow. I will certainly miss seeing Sam playing rummy at the club and miss talking "water". He was easy to love and respect and that is how we will always remember our friend Sam.
