Obituary of Mary K. Compani
Mrs. Mary K. Putnam Compani, 82 of Gloversville NY, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
She was born October 12, 1922 in Sprakers, NY, the youngest of nine children to the late Nelson and Florence Hazzard Putnam.
A gradutate of Canajoharie High School, she came to Gloversville in 1945. She was a member of St. Cecilia?s Church, formerly active in the PTA, brownies and girl scouts. She was a cub scout leader, bingo worker at Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville, and was an avid NY Yankee's baseball fan.
Mrs. Compani worked as a glovemaker at her home for 25 years. She also worked for St. Thomas Inc. and the Grandoe Corporation for an additional 25 years and retired in 1994.
She was married to Carmin Compani on November 21, 1942 who died in December 2003.
Mrs. Compani was predeceased by her four sisters and four brothers: Josephine Ouderkirk, Blanche Nellis, Madeline Meehan, Doris Ragan , Albert Putnam, Thomas Putnam, James Putnam, and Elmer Putnam.
She is survived by two Daughters: Carol Visconti and Angela Raponi both of Gloversville; two sons: Robert Compani of Gloversville and David Compani of Utica; 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several very special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at the Kobuskie - Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 10:15 AM Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Cecilia?s R. C. Church, Fonda. Interment will take place at St. Cecilia?s Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
