Obituary of Lanita L. Pugh
Mrs. Lanita Locke Pugh, age 89 of Mayfield died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville, NY.
She was born March 23, 1916 in Indian Lake, NY, the daughter of Martin and Edith Brown Locke. Following her mother's death, she was raised by her step-mother, Mae Locke. A graduate of Indian Lake Central School, she also attended Boston College, and later graduated from the Nathan Littauer School of Nursing in Gloversville. Following graduation Lanita was employed as an instructor at the school for several years until it was closed. She then became activities director and director of volunteer services at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.
Mrs. Pugh was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church of Gloversville, the Bannertown Senior Citizens of Mayfield, and the Nathan Littauer Nurses Alumni Assocaiation
Survivors include her daughter, Christine C. Yost of Scotia; granddaughter, Holly Yost of Scotia; sister, Constance Brewer Arthur of Lake Luzerne; half-sister, Lulumae Hodder of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lanita was married to Norman P. Pugh who died in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Gerald, Fred and Arthur Locke, and sisters Laura Jane Hutchins and Nina Locke Benton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
