Obituary of Patrick S. Derby
Mr. Patrick S. Derby, age 39, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2005 at his home in Gloversville.
He was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1965 in Gloversville, the youngest of four children of Charles D. and M. Jayne Smith Derby. A 1984 graduate of Gloversville High School, he later graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts from Schenectady County Community College. He was employed for many years by the Marriott Corporation and by various restaurants in several states. Locally, Patrick was a chef at The Sagamore and The Glen Sanders Mansion, as well as at many restaurants in the Fulton County area. He was currently working for the Saratoga National Golf Club and The Rail Yard restaurant.
?Derb?, as he was known to many, enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He also displayed his talents as a part-time landscaper. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother, M. Jayne Derby of Gloversville; two brothers, William C. Derby and his wife Jennifer Shaad-Derby of Mayfield and Michael D. Derby and his wife Suzanne Derby of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Nora Ann Leeder and her husband William of Lake Tahoe, CA; a nephew, Christopher Derby; three nieces, Katherine Derby, Sierra Derby and Margo Derby; two aunts and several cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Cremation took place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, or to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY; 12078. Arrangements are by Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
