I only met George Sr. one time; he & Barbara had won the lottery and came to Columbia, SC to visit Geo. I remember he was surprised that I did not have "2 names" like other southerners, so he dubbed me Sara Lee. I really enjoyed meeting George Sr. and spending time with him & Barb. I always wished I could have visited with them again. He was a good, hardworking man who loved his children and wanted them to be happy. My heart goes out to all of you for your loss. He is now with God and his first wife/love/mother of his boys. Treasure your memories.
In Him,
Paula

I have so many fond memories of our family visits to Uncle George?s house, playing baseball uphill, running through the corn fields and eating an endless supply of pancakes. It was a great place to visit as a kid. Although it?s been many years since I?ve seen him, I can still hear his voice and recall his charismatic presence. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

DADS
A father gives you life,
A Dad gives you love.
A father feeds you,
A Dad nourishes you.
You can talk to your father,
But you can pour out your heart
to your Dad.
A Dad is gentle, but not weak,
Strong, but not harsh.
Sometimes he's your buddy
And sometimes he's your boss.
And sometimes he's not even
your father,
But, there's one thing he always is, and that's your Dad.
Thanks, Dad.
Dad,
Take care of Mom until we are all together again. Stay warm.
Love,
Your boys

I only knew George from working at FFCS. My best memories are that he always had a pleasant smile and "hello". At the union meetings, he always stood for the best interests and wanted what was right for all of the employees. My son Lyman was a classmate of Joey and Brian. His Dad passed over almost nine years ago. I know how much you will miss your father and I hope the shared memories help get you through this difficult time.

Nephews, how fitting the contributions to SPCA as one of my memories is when your dad came to Ca and stayed one night in our home and fed my dog table scraps and denied doing it, and waking in the am to see George and the dog asleep on my new couch. It now makes me smile. Our love is with you all. Aunt Denise and Uncle Wayne

To the family of George Kerns,
Please accept my condolences on George's passing. We were good friends since the early 50's and he often called me by my nick name Whitey. I extend my prayers to you all.
I thank Dom for calling me Sunday evening and for the chance to be able to send this e-mail as living in the Bronx, I will not be able to attend the service today.
I spent the evening thinking about the times George and I had. I yearn to have a reunion with the old gang and assure you should that happen that George will be with us in spirit, as we share about our momments with him.
I extend my sympathy to you all as George's spirit lives on at our old stomping grounds on Washington Avenue and East 184th Street.
Sincerely,
Anthony Caputo
