Obituary of George A. Bud Menge
Mr. George A. ?Bud? Menge, 84 years old of Petoff Garden Apts., Co. Hwy 155, died Friday at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam. Mr. Menge was born September 14, 1921, the son of George and Hulda Nadler Menge and was a life long resident of the Amsterdam area.
He was employed by American Locomotive Co. in Schenectady for 28 years. In 1953 Bud, along with his wife Betty, opened Bud and Betty?s Bait Shop on Rt 30 in the Town of Mayfield, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1979. He was a member of The Loyal Order of the Moose in Johnstown and of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Bud married the former Elizabeth ?Betty? Eaton in 1944 who passed away in 1984. He is survived by 2 sons; James Menge of Mayfield and George Menge of Schenectady, 4 sisters; Arbutis Patterson of Dade City, Florida, Madeline Burr of Gloversville, Hulda James and Darlene Barker, both of Amsterdam, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bud is also survived by his companion Edith Martin and her family. He was predeceased by his brother Herbert Menge and 2 sisters Dorothy Gross and Bernice Eaton.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am Tuesday at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home. 85 W. Main Street, Broadalbin. Burial is in Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
