Obituary of William Thomas Wheeler

William T. ?Bill? Wheeler, 40, of New Turnpike Road, Ft. Plain, passed away at his home with his wife at his side Thursday evening September 7, 2006 following a courageous battle with ALS. Born in South Hampton, Long Island, NY on June 5, 1966 a son of David and Barbara Holzman Wheeler. He was a 1984 Graduate of Canajoharie High School and played football for the varsity team. He was an accomplished football player and received a scholarship to play for Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. He grew up in Long Island and later moved to the Canajoharie area with his family. He also lived in Stormville, NY, and Chicago IL. Bill was employed for over 15 years as the Director of Marketing for American Bank Note Holographic Co. of Robinsville, N.J. He also worked for a time as a stock trader on Wall St. Bill was an avid New York Giants fan and loved all sports. He enjoyed aviation and traveling the world especially through his work. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed. He married Susan L. Johnson at Walt Disney World in Florida on January 27, 2006. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his beloved parents, David and Barbara Wheeler of Canajoharie, NY, one brother, Fred Wheeler and his wife Sue of Canajoharie, New York; one sister, Christine Wheeler of Canajoharie, New York; mother in law, Carolyn Johnson of Oppenheim, New York; two nieces, Jennifer and Elizabeth Wheeler; two nephews, Alexander Droney of Canajoharie, New York and Avery Johnson of Ft. Plain; two uncles; one aunt; two goddaughters, Marissa and Nicole Lassell of Charlotte, North Carolina and brother in law, Emil Johnson of Ft. Plain, New York. He is also survived by his pet yellow lab, Chloe. He was pre-deceased by two uncles and one aunt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 11, 2006 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Canajoharie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday September 10, 2006 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, New York.
