Obituary of Linda T. Dwyer
Mrs. Linda T. Dwyer, 63, of Gloversville, died Wednesday at her home.
Born September 12, 1943 in Glen Cove, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Dawson and Agnes Nelson Tait.
She was educated in Glen Cove schools and a graduate of North Shore High School in Glen Cove. Mrs. Dwyer was also a graduate of SUNY Potsdam and furthered her education at Skidmore College and The College of New Rochelle doing graduate work. Her love and devotion to teaching saw no boundaries. Her career began in elementary education serving districts in Shenendahowa, Canajoharie. Johnstown, Gloversville and Mayfield. Linda also taught at the Wildwood School in Schenectady, Tryon School and the Mohawk Valley Tutorial Program as well as private duty tutoring. Her well-acknowledged excellence as a teacher also brought her talents to the Hale Creek facility in Johnstown, where she was currently employed by the NYS Dept. of Corrections since 1997. A member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gloversville, Linda was very active in many church affairs including the church council, Sunday school and various church functions. Her love of music and singing, which she enjoyed learning as an adult, continued her church involvement as a choir member and a member of the Bell Choir.
Linda is survived by her husband, James Michael Dwyer, of Gloversville whom she married August 25, 1968. She is also survived by two daughters, Kara D. William Sidener of Bristow, VA and Meghan White Dwyer of Gloversville; a brother, Thomas H. Major General Ret. and Margaret Tait of Lexington, VA and one grandson, Jack Dawson Sidener.
Memorial Service will be held 3 pm Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church in Gloversville with Reverend L. David
Almleaf, Pastor, and Reverend Dennis Cox officiating. Cremation took place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Urn burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078, St. James Lutheran Church, 521 N. Main Street, Gloversville or to the Lexington Foundation, 127 E. State St. Gloversville. Arrangements are by the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
