I don’t know what specifically made me think of Gary today; truth be told, he comes up in my head fairly often. At this point, he’s been gone from my life longer than he was a part of it. But he was the first friend I ever had that I lost long before his time. I have to imagine he would still be hilarious, still quick to joke, happy to see you come and sad to see you leave. I can imagine a scenario where we run into one another at a grocery store, exclaim how we can’t believe it’s been so long. Really- I still can’t believe it’s been so long. We lost touch after high school as so many people do, but on random days, as today, I find myself missing my friend.

Chris, Beth-Anne & the entire Kietzmann and Ray families:
I would love to tell you all how sorry I am for you recent and sudden loss. But I know that sorry isn't nearly enough. Gary was a wonderful, amazing person that touched every person he came in contact with. Gary and I became friends in elementary school, a couple in middle school and thankfully stayed friends through high school. I have so many great memories with Gary that I will always treasure. He could make anyone laugh and his smile was unmistakable. He always knew just what to say, I loved Gary very deeply and he will forever hold a very special place in my heart. My thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you during this very trying time.
Gary I will miss you very much but I'm sure we'll meet again...

Chris, Beth and Family, We were completely shocked and saddened when we heard the news about Gary. Chris, you must be so proud of the young man that Gary became. He came out to see my band one night and he was standing up front, singing every word to every song. When we took a break he came up to me and said, "Dude you're band is terrible!" He was just kidding I hope he was kidding. It just showed what a funny kid he was. He also told me that it was cool to be talking to me after all these years. I hope he knows that it was an honor to talk to him again too. Not a day went by at work where my Dad didn't mention something about Gary Paul or Beth-Anne. He was so proud of all of you! I'm sure that he'll take care of Gary until we all get up there. God Bless You All!

Mrs. Kietzmann, Kietzmann Family and Elizabeth,
We are so sorry to hear about Gary. We met Gary when our son, Ryan, bowled with him on the Broadalbin-Perth Bowling Team. We will always remember Gary's antics such as dyeing his hair and falling on the lanes and getting up and making such a joke of it. His great attitude during bowling, which must have followed him wherever he was and always made him a pleasure to be around. His impact of motivation of others who were down was wonderful. When we saw him in later years at Price Chopper or Stewarts, he always said hi and had that great smile. Which is how we will always remember him.
God Bless Gary and all of you.

God does things that we never will understand, and I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

I was one of the privileged to know Gary pretty well for a while. It started in middle school when I first learned to bowl and was put on a team with Gary, his sister, and his cousins. We quickly became friends and bowled together through high school, both of us getting a chance to bowl in the state tournament. He was one heck of a guy who could turn any situation into a good one, even when he slipped and fell onto the lane one time. Some of my best memories from high school are times I spent with Gary. One of the classiest guys I ever have had the honor of knowing.
I'll be seeing you my friend, and we'll go bowling when I get there.

My stomach feels sick just thinking about how unfair this is. Gary was a great guy. I never had the opportunity to act with him, but I remember watching him preform. At the time, Gary and I had met a few times through the drama club. He was in some strange play and I remember watching him sword fight with Adam Wagner. In the scene he died, but later came back to life. It was supposed to be a really somber moment, but for some reason, it made me burst out laughing. It was such inapporpriate timing, but the thought of him being poked with a wooden play thing made me laugh so hard I almost cried. There was also a class of young children in the front...very impressionable young children. When they heard me laugh, they burst out laughing too. I went back stage at intermission to see the cast...and Gary was like, THEY LAUGHED!! They LAUGHED when I died!! I admitted to him that it was me...and it became this big joke between us. He was such a great guy. Last I saw him he was working at Stewarts. He told me how he was working to pay for school. I'll always remember how happy he was, and how much he enjoyed theatre and making other people laugh, even when he didn't mean to. I'll catch you on the flip side Gary.
