Obituary of Henry Jacobson
Henry ?Hank? Jacobson, 92, of Northville, passed away Tuesday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital with his beloved wife and niece Lois at his side.
Born on June 26, 1914, in Norwood, NY, the son of Samuel and Sarah Cohen Jacobson, he attended the Williston Academy in Massachusetts, and later was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. During World War II, Hank served with the US Navy.
Upon his return, he was associated with the family business, J-B Auto, which was founded by his father. He became a co-owner and also was associated with the former J-B Realty Company. He was a member of the Marine Midland Bank Board Of Directors at one time, and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 101 all located in Amsterdam. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winters at their home in Palm Beach Florida for over forty years. They are members of Congregation Sons of Israel in Amsterdam.
On April 4, 1937, he was married to the former Vivian Engel. In addition to his beloved wife of nearly seventy years, Hank leaves his brother, Ellis and his wife Dorothy Jacobson of Northville, as well as nieces and nephews. His sister, Sonya and her husband Samuel Seigal predeceased him.
Services are scheduled for Sunday at twelve noon at Congregation Sons of Israel, 355 Guy Park Avenue with Rabbi Geoffrey Claussen officiating.
Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Cranesville. There are no calling hours and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. Hank?s wife and family are deeply grateful to the entire staff at St. Mary?s for their care and wonderful kindness that was extended to them during his brief illness.
