Obituary of Doris R. Squillace

Mrs. Doris Rhodes Squillace, age 94 of Gloversville, died Tuesday, February, 20, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, NY. She was born March 1, 1912 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence Lasher Rhodes. A graduate of Gloversville High School, she worked at Argersinger?s Dept. Store, the Mildred Preston Shop and at Britt?s Dept. Store. She also operated a drapery business from her home for many years. Doris was a member of the Bleecker Street Church of Christ in Gloversville. She enjoyed oil painting, and was a devoted grandmother to her grandsons Frank P. and John A. Squillace, who now reside in California. Additional survivors include her son, Phillip Sleeper of Fort Henry, NY; several nieces and nephews including Mary L. Perna Fred and Thomas Lizzio; and cousins Frank Rhodes and Harlow Rhodes. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Albert D. Squillace in 1973; her son Frank Squillace; brothers Harmon Rhodes and Walter Rhodes; and sisters Alice Lizzio and Anna Cohen. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 2 pm with the Rev. Sandra Geer officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bleecker Street Church of Christ, 97 Bleecker St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
