Obituary of Joseph J. Ault
Mr. Joseph J. Ault of Fonda died April 19, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Ault was the son of the late Rosario T. and Madaline Damiano Ault, Sr. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. Early in life, Mr. Ault was an owner and operator of a service station in Fonda until 1960. He then operated the Wagon Wheel, a newsstand and ice cream business. Most recently he had been a counselor at Tryon School for 22 years, retiring in 1987.
A Navy veteran of WW Two, Mr. Ault was a member of the American Legion # 554 of Ft. Plain. The VFW # 962 in Fonda, a former member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge and a member of the Snell Hose Co. # 2 in the Fonda Fire Department. Joe served as Youth Commissioner in Fonda for 15 years and was also a school bus driver for 20 years.
He is survived by his children; Mary Jo Rave of Fonda, Joseph R. Ault of Fonda, James P. Ault of Fultonville and Robert A. Ault of Broadalbin. He is also survived by a sister; Mary Bellows of Gloversville, two brothers; Carmin Ault of Gloversville and Rosario T. Junie Ault Jr. of Fonda. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive as well as nieces and nephews. Mr. Ault was pre-deceased by his sisters; Julia Viauso, Florence Cervo Campbell and Marguerite Marotta and brothers; Andrew, Samuel and Anthony Ault.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 10 am Saturday April 21, 2007 at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
