I don't know what brought me to the Leader-Herald web site, where I read Mike's obituary. I haven't lived in Johnstown in over 30 years and haven't visited since my 20th high school reunion in 1993. But, something drew me here. Mike and I were friends during high school and I lived near his cousin Sam Santos and friend Dick Nellis. Even though I haven't seen any of you in all these years, I am saddened to hear of Mike's death. My thoughts and prayers are with him and my good, old friends.

Linda, our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family on Mike's passing. It was not that long ago that I sat and talked with you and Mike at one of our favorite local establishments and enjoyed a few moments of "horse" talk and reminiscing. We are truly sorry for your loss. Mike always had a smile and good words to share. God bless you all and we can hold onto our faith that your Yankee fan has now joined our Red Sox fan in heaven.

Linda, I want to take the opportunity on behalf of my family to express my deepest sympathies to you and your wonderful family. My son Garrett called me over the weekend and it truly hit him hard because as he states " we always take things for granted and we argue about baseball and stupid stuff but we all miss the important things in life which is loving one another when we can." It is pretty profound for a teenager to see it that way. It brought me to my knees. Garrett is living in Utica for the summer and wanted to come home for the viewing but he has a BB game. I told him that knowing Mike the way I do, it would be more important to Mr. Lizio's that you 'Play the Game."It was my pleasure to know Mike and I go back to knowing the two Toms also. If you ever need any help or support please dont hesitate to call. Of course I will be at the hoop and BB games to support Greg. Again my family sends their condolences. Fortunately you have alot of family support so stay strong. Hope to see you and the family tonite. God bless, Gordy Duross

Linda, Micholyn and Greg, There are no words to express how sorry I am about your loss of a truely wonderful man. I dont remember a time in my life that he was not in it, since I was a little girl, I loved to go to the Lizio's. Even after the greatest loss of my life, you guys made me smile with your memories of my dad and all the fun you had. I know this is the toughest thing you will probably ever go through, but just remember some day we will all smile again sharing great memories of a man who was a friend, a brother, a husband and most of all a DAD who loved his family! Mike may not be here in body but every time you see his 2 children you will know that he lives on and some beautiful day we will all be together again with the ones we love the most. Until then you have a friend to lean on, to laugh and cry with whenever you need one. If you need anything I will always be there for any of you! ALL My Love, KIM

Dear Lizio family - I appreciate all Mike used to do for me when we both worked at the high school and I was always in need of something to complete the play and musical direction. I was then glad to meet him again when I taught Greg at Knox. He was clearly proud of his children and enjoyed their successes. I offer my prayers for your loss. Carolyn Beck

I remember when. I remember when Mike played baseball and during a game I was playing bad, he told me to not pay so much attention to the crowd in the stands. He said they had nothing else to do but watch.
He inspired me to play better and even though I moved away later in life, I always remembered what he told me that day. EVERYONE ELSE IS JUST A SPECTATOR. I know he will be missed by all who knew him. My sympathy for your loss.
