Obituary of Kathy A. Marvel

Kathy Anne Marvel R.N., 53, formerly of Worcester, MA and currently of Anderson Rd., Sprakers, NY passed away Friday July 27, 2007 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born in Worcester, MA on July 1, 1954 a daughter of Edwin S. and Lois F. Baldwin Hansen. She was a 1972 graduate of Marian High School in Worcester, MA. Kathy went on to receive her R.N. from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing also in Worcester, MA. She first was employed at Memorial Hospital and later Holyoke Hospital both in MA. She came to this area in 1991 when she took a nursing position at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY. She was currently working as a supervisor at the hospital. Mrs. Marvel enjoyed boating, traveling and was a dedicated caregiver, a generous person to all and was a true friend. She enjoyed sewing and home decorating and spending time at her summer home in Stratford, NY. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Angels Church in Worcester, MA. Kathy married Mark L. Marvel on September 11, 1976. In addition to her husband survivor?s include one son, Brian Marvel of Gloversville, NY, one brother, Gary Hansen of Shrewsbury, MA and one sister, Liane Hansen of Washington, D.C. One uncle, several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends also survive. A celebration of Kathy?s life will be held on Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday July 30, 2007 from 4:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Kathy?s memory to establish a scholarship for nursing students.
