Obituary of Shirley Myers
Shirley Myers, 70, of James Street, passed away Saturday morning at Ellis Hospital. Her family was at her side.
Born in Schenectady on January 29, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Fitzgerald Myers. Following the early passing of her parents, Shirley came to Amsterdam where she resided with her aunt, Elizabeth Orr. She worked for a number of years for Mohasco and later for twenty years for the former Amsterdam Federal Savings And Loan Asso. She retired in 2002 as a reconciler in accounts receivable for the former Mohawk Community Bank. Shirley was a faithful communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, and although she never had children of her own, everyone else?s children were treated like her own.
Shirley was kind and helpful and always thought of others first. She will be truly missed.
She leaves her nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Services are Tuesday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 9:15 am, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, by her friend, Fr. John Medwid. Interment will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Church, or the Martyrs Shrine At Auriesville, both in care of the funeral home office.
