Obituary of Marie Z. Riker
Mrs. Marie Z. Bobrovitch Riker, age 90 of Johnstown, New York; died on Friday morning, November 9, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, NY. She had battled with cancer for the past four years.
She was born in Poland on January 18, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Bobrovitch. During World War II Marie was taken by the Germans from her family in Poland and placed in a concentration camp in Germany where she was forced to work on German aircraft repairs. She came to the United States in the 1950?s and lived in the Bronx, NY area for most of her life. She worked in the home of a Bronx Supreme Court Judge.
Mrs. Riker was of catholic faith, and enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She loved to be taken by limousine to casinos in New York and Connecticut.
She is survived by five children, Louise M. Punch, with whom she resided in Johnstown, Judith Schumann of Washingtonville, Josephine Armstrong of Queensbury, Elizabeth Zylinski of Alabama and Stanislaw Zylinski of Pennsylvania; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and other relatives in Europe. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Zylinski and Louis Riker; and a daughter, Dorothy Everett.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 pm Sunday, November 11th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY. Interment will take place Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulmont Community Action Agency, Inc; P.O.
