Obituary of Michael D. Gisondi
Mr. Michael D. Gisondi, 83, formerly of Palatine Bridge, died early January 2, 2008 in Rockledge, Florida.
Born on July 18, 1924 in Ft. Johnson he was the son of the late Antonio and Concetta Renzi Gisondi. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Canajoharie High School.
Mr. Gisondi served as the Chief of Police of Canajoharie for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter?s & St. Paul?s Roman Catholic Church. In addition to being a wonderful family man, Michael was active in the community. He served in police associations, the village board, and other charitable endeavors. Whether in New York, or in later years in Florida, Michael was a friendly, giving person who will be missed by all.
On September 21, 1950 he was united in marriage to the former Anna Renzi. The union with his loving wife lasted 55 years until her passing on January 15, 2005. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joann Gisondi.
His loving family includes, his two sons, Anthony D. Gisondi and his wife Chrisitana of New Jersey and Michael S. Gisondi and his wife Mary of Merritt Island, FL; four grandchildren, Lauren, Stephen, Elizabeth and Angela Gisondi; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 9:15a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. Peter?s & Paul?s Roman Catholic Church, Cliff Street, with the Rev. William Gaffiagan as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Cecilia?s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday afternoon from 3 until 7 at the funeral home.
