Obituary of David S. Zarecki

David Zarecki, 87, formerly of Reid Street, passed away peacefully Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on December 14, 1920, he was the last surviving child of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Zarecki who emigrated from Poland. Educated locally, he lived here his entire life. During World War II, he proudly served with the US Army Air Corps. David worked for many years as a carpenter for Local 370 out of Albany. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Roman catholic Church, a member of the Sacred Heart Society, Polish American Veterans, The John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 American Legion, the 40 et 8 Voiture and formerly of the Elks Lodge 101. His wife, the former Jessie Gray, predeceased him on April 8, 2005. He also lost a son, David Zarecki. He leaves his children, sons; Donald Bonnie Zarecki of Amsterdam, and Douglas Zarecki of Schenectady; daughters; Judy Zarecki of Florida, Elizabeth Zarecki Frank Roach of California, Martina Andrew Mackie, Joyce Clifford Smith all of Amsterdam, and Regina David Malizia of Ballston Lake; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Monday morning at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Funeral Mass which will be offered at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus' Church. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. A calling hour will begin at 9:15 am Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church in care of the funeral home office.
