Obituary of Barbara A. Potts

Barbara A. Potts, 69, of Burley Road and Zephyr Hills, FL passed away suddenly, Monday, June 23, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family by her side. Born in VanHornsville, May 13, 1939, she is a daughter to the late George and Esther Eckler Tennant. Barbara was a life resident of the area and a graduate of VanHornsville High School. Following High School, she worked at Allgro Shoe Store and Snyder's Bicycle Factory in Little Falls for a period of time. Following her marriage to John R. Potts of Amsterdam on June 26, 1971, she worked as a Dietary Aid at St. Mary's Hospital before retiring in 1996 after 21 years of service. In addition, Barbara was very involved with the local chapter of the Gold Star Mothers. Barbara enjoyed playing cards, crafts, collecting Hummingbirds and Angels, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. Her sense of humor, kindness and positive attitude will be missed by all of her family and friends. Her loving family includes her husband of 37 years, John R. Potts of Fultonville, her daughters, Darlene Michael Bullock of Fultonville and LeeAnne David Cardali of Macon, GA, her son, Mark Potts of Broadalbin, her sisters, Altana Swank of St. Johnsville and Beverly Tennant of Ft. Plain, her brother, Vaughn Patricia Tennant of Connecticut, and her grandchildren, Brittany Bullock, Asia Lee Potts, Martina Potts, Alessandro Cardali and Sophia Cardali. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her son, Michael Potts in 1994, two sisters, Ava Lehr and Judy Tennant, and two brothers, Harvey Tennant and Donald Tennant. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with Rev. Cynthia Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 hours prior to services from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to the Amsterdam Community Cancer Program, 1710 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
