Obituary of Jon Paul Giardono

Jon Paul Giardono 43, of Tanner Road, Oriskany Falls, passed away Sunday afternoon at St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his family at his side. Born in Amsterdam on January 7, 1965 he was the son of Donna Giardono and Gerald Brooker. Jon was a 1983 graduate of Amsterdam High School and later SUNY Morrisville. He was employed by the former Danny's Newstand and the Dollar Tree both located in Amsterdam. In his youth, Jon was a faithful acolyte at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church where he also assisted in several youth oriented activities. He served as a coach for the Little Giants and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 40. Jon was very devoted to his family and was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothea Johnson; his mother Donna Giardono of Amsterdam; his father Gerald Brooker of Gloversville; his sister, Tina M. Giardono of Amsterdam; nephews, Anthony Giardono and Bryant and Jayette Barksdale; uncle, James Giardono; God mother, Joan Ken Norwood; several additional aunts, uncles and cousins and his canine pals Chico and Mustang. A service will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Father Pascal A. Iannotti, officiating. Interment will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his name to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
