Obituary of Arthur R. Manginelli

Arthur R.Manginelli 73, of Peter Lane, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on December 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Dominick and Theresa DiChira Manginelli. He lived here his entire life. From 1957 to 1959, Art served with the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was serving currently as commander for the Frank Sirchia Post 32 Amvets . He could always be seen placing flags at the graves of fellow veterans around Memorial Day with the assistance of the Boy Scouts from Troop 40. A member of the G.E. Quarter century Club, Art retired in 1995 after a thirty year career with General Electric in Schenectady. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher for a number of years. A devoted family man, he was never more happy than when he was attending one of his grandson's sporting events. On July 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Rita Fraim. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his sons; Robert Maureen Manginelli of Fonda, Thomas and William Manginelli both of Amsterdam and daughter Judi Manginelli of Amsterdam; grandsons; Nicholas, Anthony and Bernie Manginelli; brothers; Ralph Manginelli of Utica and Edward Barbara Manginelli of Elmira; sisters in law; Mary Ann Norman Marcotte, Dolores Fraim and Ann Manginelli; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his brother Nicholas. Services are Monday morning at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:15 am at St. Mary's Church. Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Interment will follow with military honorsin St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. A calling period will take place after 8:30 am Monday at the funeral home until the time of the prayer service. The Amvets Post 32 will gather to pay tribute to their commander at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Institute or the Time For Truth Ministries both in care of the funeral home office.
