Obituary of Mary Hernigle Harvey Sutch
Mary Hernigle Harvey Sutch, age 85, passed away on January 14th at her home peacefully with family at her side after a year long illness.
She was born March 29, 1923 in Fultonville, daughter of the late Frank and Antonia Hernigle. She was a graduate of Fonda High School in 1940.
Mary resided in Fultonville most of her life, with a period in Hope; she moved to Jensen Beach, FL in 1994.
Mary worked at various places in Fulton County and was owner of the North Star in Hope for several years.
Mary was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a communicant at St. Martin DeParres in Jensen Beach. She was previously a member of St. Cecilia's, Fonda and St. Anne's, Wells, NY.
Survivors include her daughters: Jean Bartholf and her husband Richard of Mayfield, NY, Antonia Wickes and her husband Ed and Deborah Gerback all of Jensen Beach, FL; one sister, Agnes Fish of Fultonville, NY and grandchildren:
Judith Mallory Mark of Winter Haven, FL, Janet Carter Thomas of Broadalbin, NY, Jennifer Abel of Mayfield, NY, Ed Wickes Sherree and Robert Wickes, all of Jensen Beach, FL. In addition she had 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Robert C. Harvey and Anthony Sutch; four brothers: Edward, John, Joseph and Eugene Hernigle and one sister, Frances Fiala.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 9 o'clock at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 o'clock at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 26 Broadway, Fonda with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. as celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Ann's Cemetery in Wells. Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to the Ronald McDonald House or St. Jude's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
