Obituary of John W. Hewitt
John W. Hewitt Jr., 64, of Fairmont Avenue, Amsterdam, died peacefully February 3, 2009 at home following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of John W. Hewitt Sr. and the late Shirley Eglintine.
A lifelong area resident, John attended the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a 1964 graduate. He was the proprietor of Perth Crafts and Flea Market until the onset of his illness. In the 80's he owned Adirondack Seafood in Schenectady and worked as a cook for area restaurants.
John enjoyed cooking, antiques, coins and classic cars. Above all he loved his family, and adored his only grandson. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
His loving family includes his father, John W. Hewitt Sr. of Scotia; his wife of over 38 years, the former Kathleen Ledermiller; one daughter, Tara Talarico of Galway; his grandson, Mason Talarico; his siblings, Robert Hewitt and his wife Susan of Scotia, Christine Watson of Schenectady, Mark Hewitt of Perth, and Barbara Bethune of Schenectady; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 7 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A.
