Obituary of Virginia A. Gaida

Virginia A. "Ginny" Gaida, 59, of St Hwy 30A, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cobleskill September 11, 1949 a daughter of Jenny Koren Mahar of Hynesville and the late Douglas Mahar. Ginny was a graduate of Cobleskill High School and of SUNY Oneonta with a degree in Education. She was a 5th Grade elementary school teacher for over 30 years with the Cobleskill School District. She was united in marriage to Edward J. Gaida of Charleston on December 27, 1981 in Cobleskill. Ginny was a parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family traveling, cross-country skiing, sight-seeing and fishing. She will be sadly missed. Her loving family includes her husband Edward Gaida of Charleston, two daughters, Kim Sieber and husband Eric of Chatham and Laura Channell and husband Bob of Sammonsville, two sons Joseph Gaida and David Gaida both of Charleston, her sister Patricia Galasso and husband Emil of Cobleskill and her brother Richard Mahar and wife Joanne of Pine Plains. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday May 4, 2009 at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway in Fonda with Fr. Patrick Gallagher OFM, Conv. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 to 5:00PM on Sunday May 3, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. Contributions in Ginny's memory may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD, 21031.
