Obituary of Norine F. Gifford

Norine F. Gifford, 79, of County Highway 107, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on January 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Henrietta Hugg Anthony. A lifelong area resident, she attended local schools. She and her late husband Paul were the owners of the former "Rent A Skate" in the area. She loved to travel and go camping with her family. Norine was a wonderful home maker and an awesome cook and will be remembered as a "care giver to all". She was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband Paul E. Gifford predeceased her on December 24, 1994. Her loving family includes her children; Michael Diana Gifford of Broadalbin, Mark Cheri Gifford of Amsterdam, Kenneth Paula Gifford of Gloversville, Richard Gifford CindiSusan of Broadalbin and her daughter Lori Gary Harlan of Amsterdam; a sister in law; Jean Thatcher of Altamont as well as thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will take place Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. A calling period will begin at 6pm prior to the service. It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Mountain Valley Hospice in care of the funeral home office. Norine's family would like to thank Mountain Valley for their care and concern as well as the family and friends who assisted her in her illness.
