Obituary of Dorothy M. Beyer

Dorothy M. Beyer, 92, of Truax Rd., Amsterdam, passed away early Friday morning September 4th, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 9th, 1916 a daughter of Edward and Dora Palmer Setchell. She was educated in Amsterdam Schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later Albany Business College. Dorothy was employed by Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Cranesville Reformed Church and its Women's Group. She was also a member of the Cranesville Country Cousins Senior Club. Dorothy married Edgar Beyer on September 28, 1940. He passed away on December 8, 1968. Survivor's include a son, Donald Beyer Sandra of Amsterdam. One daughter, Linda Corbin Jeffrey of Rhode Island. Three grandchildren, Michael Beyer, Theresa Beyer and Kevin Chicoski. Two great grandchildren, Chanise Beyer and Shenel Salluzzo. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Dorothy was predeceased by a brother Donald Setchell who was killed in action during World War II. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. . Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery Amsterdam. There are no calling hours.
