Obituary of Jean M. Brewster

Jean M. Brewster, 54, of Amsterdam, NY, has passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born on October 17th, 1962 in Newburgh, NY, She was the daughter of the late Florence Harris and Arthur Brewster Jr. Jean was very family orientated and was never hesitant to place her family above her own needs. She was a devoted mother, companion, and friend. Jean enjoyed playing bingo and loved couponing, but above all she truly loved to crochet. She spent many hours making quilts and such for her children and grandchildren. Making them useful items was her way of expressing her love for them. One of the most important things in this life is time, and Jean was well aware of that. She dedicated her time, efforts, and anything else she could to ensure her family was taken care of. Jean was a very genuine person who was very forgiving and non-judgmental. Her comforting nature made her easy to talk to and someone you could confide in. Jean had a passion for helping others and loved to contribute where ever she could, especially to the Office of the Aging in Amsterdam. Her caring demeanor and generous personality made her an angel on earth. She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. Jean is survived by her longtime companion Mariano Rivera, her daughters Trish Steiger and Marisa Rivera; her son Manuel Rivera; her sisters Dolly DeLaire, and Lisa Brewster; her brother Arthur R. Brewster III; her grandchildren Ashley, Alyssa, Nicolas, Kayla, Aleysia, and Izayah; and her great grandson Colton. Many more loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Jean is predeceased by her beloved parents Florence and Arthur Brewster; and her dear sister Wanda Paglialunga. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 27th, 2017 at 11am at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive visitors from 10am - 11am prior to the service at the funeral home.
