Obituary of George E. King
Mr. George E. King, 63, of Staleyville Road, died unexpectedly on November 17, 2009 at home. Born in February 1946 in Jordanville, NY he was the son of the late Byron and Mary Walrath King. He was a 1965 graduate of Owen D. Young Central School and served proudly in the United States Army following graduation.
George was employed for Agway in Fort Plain, NY for over 30 years. He also drove truck for Patrick Transportation of Philadelphia, PA and most recently for Hilltop Farms of Albany, NY. George lived for and was an avid truck driver all of his adult life. He was a carefree fun loving guy who talked to everyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
On December 18, 1976 he was united in marriage to Mae D. King. That union lasted 31 years until her passing on October 9, 2007. George was also predeceased by his parents, two sisters, and his mother in law Madge Damuth. He was also predeceased by his K-9 companion Brady, whom he loved to take to Stewarts and get him egg salad sandwiches.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Richard Cirtwell of Sprakers, NY and Cathy Cables of Mohawk, NY; a step son, Alan Kathy Buck of Fonda, NY; three step daughters, Rose Buck of Palatine Bridge, NY, Kay Anthony Vecchio of Amsterdam, NY, Cynthia James Melroy of Pennsylvania; a daughter in law, Rebecca King of Fort Plain, NY; a sister, Elizabeth Cooper Al Kent of Fort Plain, NY; a brother, David Sylvia King of Springfield Center, NY; sister's in law, Alice Damuth of Schenectady, NY and Betty Damuth of Alabama; a brother in law, Ralph Damuth of Maine; a special niece, Dawn Burgess of Canajoharie, NY; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Interment will follow in the Van Hornesville Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call beginning at 11 o'clock prior to the service Saturday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
