Obituary of Vincent P. Salvione
Vincent P. Salvione, 87, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 03, 2009 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
He was born November 4, 1922 in Gloversville, the son of the late James and Nellie Hallenbeck Salvione.
Vincent served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII.
He was employed as a glass cutter at N. A. Taylor for fifty two years.
Mr. Salvione married the former Mildred Skiff on May 17, 1947, she predeceased him in 2000.
Vincent loved to play pool and watch football and golf. His family was what brought him his greatest joy and he adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be very sadly missed.
Survivors include two daughters: Karen J. Salvione and Marion Vouga Vern both of Gloversville; three grandsons: Vincent M. SalvioneRachael, Michael D. Salvione and Todd J. Wheaton; four great grandchildren: Macey and Allie Salvione and Taylor and Logan Salvione and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his beloved wife, Vincent was predeceased by a brother, Victor "Spatso" Salvione, a sister, June Sofka and a brother in law, Steve Sofka.
Family and friends are invited and may call Saturday, December 5 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend George Hopper presiding. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville with military honors.
