Obituary of Peter L. Brojakowski
Mr. Peter L. Brojakowski, 80, formerly of Northampton Rd. and a resident of the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday evening December 29, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illnesss.
Born in Nanticoke, PA on August 10, 1929 a son of Paul and Marianna Stodola Brojakowski. He attended schools in PA and came to the Amsterdam area in 1953.
Mr. Brojakowski first worked as a Coal Miner in Pennsylvania and later as a laborer at G.E. in Schenectady from 1953 to 1959. Peter last was employed as a Fire Fighter for the City of Amsterdam where he retired as Battalion Chief in 1991.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the BMW Motorcycle Association and was founder of the former Amsterdam Archer's Club.
He married Dolores E.Yudichak Brojakowski on May 13, 1950. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Daniel Brojakowski Julie of Elmira, NY, John Brojakowski Maria of Niskayuna, NY and Blaise Brojakowski Kathryn of Middlegrove, NY. Three daughters, Bernadine Venezia Joseph of Leesburg, VA, Judith Sloane of Keene N.H. and Beverly Greco Gary of Amsterdam. Two brothers, Stanley Brojakowski Phyllis and Frank Brojakowski Marie. 24 Grandchildren, Susannah, Heather, Morgan, Kyle, Shannon, Katherine, Daniel, Kristle, John, Peter, Patricia, Amy, Sarah, Brandon, Gretchen, Heidi, Erin, Carolyn, Brady, Christina, Andrew, David, Michael, Matthew and Jocelyn. 20 Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Peter was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, John, Leo, Anthony, Joseph, Theodosia, Lillian, Mae, Genevieve and Louise.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 2, 2010 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Cremation will take place in Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday January 1, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders or to the American Cancer Society.
