Obituary of Tony J. Rizzio

Tony J. Rizzio, age 62, of Mayfield, passed away on Sunday January 31, 2010 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Gloversville, NY on December 25, 1947 the son of Carmella Lauria Rizzio and the late Samuel Rizzio. Tony was educated in the Gloversville School District and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College. Tony married the former Linda Gay and they shared 35 years together. Tony was well loved by all in his community, and had a deep passion for aviation. He was a member of the Lazy Eight Radio Control Airplane Club and a founding member of The Screamin' Eagles R/C Model Airplane Club. His love for aviation continued to his membership in the Adirondack chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. This love passion ran from his building of many beautiful flying model airplanes to finally building and flying many full size airplanes. He spent the last 4 years as vice-president of EAA Adirondack Chapter 602. He is also well known for his passion of helping others with their airplane projects. Anyone who was working on a project could depend on Tony to be on hand whenever they needed help. He will be missed by all who knew him. Tony is survived by his wife: Linda Gay-Rizzio of Mayfield, a son: Justin Rizzio of Mayfield, his mother Carmella Rizzio, a sister MaryJo Rizzio of Gloversville, a brother and sister in law: Bruce and Marilynn Gay, a niece: Erica and Dan Fosman and two nephews: Garrett and Gannon Gay. In addition to his father, Tony was preceded in death by his mother and father in law Glenn and Belle Gay. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday February 4, 2010 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday February 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morrette officiating. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.
