Obituary of Richard E. LeFever

Mr. Richard E. LeFever, 76 of Gloversville, passed away Friday February 5, 2010. Richard was born August 11, 1933 in Gloversville. He was the son of the late Harvey and Ella Duesenberrie LeFever. A 1951 graduate of Gloversville High School, Mr. LeFever also served in the Army from 1954 to 1956.Dick had been a letter carrier at the Gloversville Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1994. Following retirement, he had worked part time as a driver at Peck's Flowers. Devoted to his family Dick was always happiest when his family spent time together, especially holidays. A longtime New York Yankee fan, Dick also enjoyed basketball and baseball events with his children and grandchildren. He was a regular at Gloversville Little League for many years. A former member of the Foothills United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Letter Carriers Association. Survivors include his wife Marie Finateri LeFever of Gloversville, whom he married August 30, 1959. His children Mark Fran LeFever of Gloversville and Michelle Joseph Schoner of Mayfield also survive as well as a brother Robert LeFever of Gloversville. Additional survivors are his grandchildren; Joseph Schoner III, Courtney Schoner, Christopher LeFever and Katie LeFever. Dick also has one great grandson, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister Florence Bennett. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon on Tuesday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville, with Reverend Rod McClarron officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
