Obituary of Richard M. Retersdorf

Richard M. "Dick" Retersdorf, age 96, of Gloversville, died April 8, 2017 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville. He was born May 28, 1920 in New Hartford, NY, the son of the late Howard and Mary Mallory Retersdorf. He worked many years ago as an Ice-Cutter and later was employed as a machinist by Curtin - Hebert of Gloversville for over 40 years until his retirement. Dick was member of North Main Street United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Edward Retersdorf and his wife Susan of Mayfield; two grandchildren: Adam Retersdorf and his wife Jessica of Mayfield and Sarah Retersdorf of Amsterdam. He also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Savannah Retersdorf and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his wife, Ida M. Safford Retersdorf; his daughter, Claudia Retersdorf; and his three brothers, James, Jack and Robert Retersdorf. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00AM to 12:00PM Wednesday, April 12 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00PM with the Rev. Judith Johnson-Siebold officiating. Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
