Obituary of John L. Rava

Mr. John L. Rava, age 63, of Evelyn Street, Amsterdam, died Friday afternoon, March 12, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born November 29, 1946 in Gloversville, the son of the late George and Pauline Gattie Rava. He served in the US Marine Corps and was of Catholic faith. He lived in the Miami, Florida area for over 20 years and was employed as a Pipe Inspector by the Miami - Dade Water and Sewer Dept. He also was a licensed Real Estate Agent in the Miami area. He returned to this area and resided in Canajoharie for a short time and has lived in Amsterdam for the past year. John is survived by three daughters: Brenda L. Rava Shawn Bowerman of Canajoharie, Melissa Rava Scott Egan of Johnstown and Jessica K. Rava Dena Pastore of Amsterdam; a sister, Sandy Rava of Schenectady; two brothers, Patrick Rava of Gloversville and George Rava of Alabama; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Rava, and a grandson, Kristofer Strouse. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
