Obituary of Donald R. Brooks

Donald R. Brooks, 85, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. He was born June 11, 1924 in Gloversville, the son of the late Floyd and Harriet Lockwood Brooks. Donald was employed as a bus driver for the City of Gloversville and for the Gloversville Enlarged School District, where he was affectionately known as "Brooksie". On July 4, 1949, he married his sweetheart, the former Marguerite Smith, who survives. Donald enjoyed woodworking, canoeing and fishing. He was also a great story teller. Donald will be sadly missed. In addition to his beloved wife, Marguerite, he is survived by three sons: Russell Brooks of Gloversville, Alan R. Brooks Judy of Augusta, MI and Jeffery Brooks of Gloversville; four grandchildren: Janel, Dana, Matt and Tyler and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was predeceased by two brothers: William Brooks and Charles Brooks. As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
