First, my condolences to John's family. He, indeed, was a fine man. Second, my relationship to John was during my several years as the District Executive of the then Sir William Johnson Council, BSA. John was an active scouter and helped me in various ways in doing my job. I could always count on him for sound advice or just to chat. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. I thank his wife for sharing him with the Scouting program and his sons who benefited from his efforts.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Because I now reside in North Carolina, I would travel to the Mayfield area to visit my parents and would often look up John. He was always a gentleman and a good friend, and I enjoyed his company immensely. I miss those trips as my parents have both passed away, and I will always miss the opportunity to look up John and share time with him, whether it was lunch or just a cup of coffee.

one Saturday morning in florida , I talked john into going 2 watch my grandkids play soccer / john got soooo into it -- I thought they were his grandkids / we laughed & had so much fun ----- he swore he was gonna come back 4 an encore but that's about when he was hospitalized !!!!!! we really bonded that day & i'll always remember the good times we could have had ------- BLESS U JOHN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
