Obituary of Marvin C. Smith

Mr. Marvin C. Smith, 83, of Gloversville, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born on January 27, 1927 in Gloversville. He was the son of the late J. Earl Smith and Ethel M. Templeton Smith. He is predeceased by his wife Eleanor M. Coloney Smith, son Timothy D. Smith and infant son Gregory A. Smith, also by his brothers and sister, Leonard E Smith, Esther M. Smith, and Leon R. Smith. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Gary S. Smith and wife Maureen Bolger of Fall River, MA; grandchildren, Gregory Allen Smith and Samantha Querrie of Catskill, Gabrielle Mae Smith and Burton Rulison of Gloversville, Nicholas M. Bolger and Kezia Pacheco of Fall River, MA; great grandchildren, Amie L Munslow, Aron N. Munslow, Skylar R. Querrie, Wyatt S. Rulison, Sydney M. Rulison; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A lifelong resident of Gloversville, he owned and operated Smith's Mobile station on the corner of Fulton St. and Allen St. for a few years and then later Smith's Texaco station on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Main St. He also managed Gloversville Auto Parts for a number of years then worked and retired from General Electric Company in Schenectady. Not satisfied with retirement, he worked for A One Shot Deal for a period of time also. He was a WWII Veteran and PTA life member, former Cub Master, and associated with Gloversville Little League for over 20 years. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29 with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
