You'll always be my papa and third ave, always my home
A sarcastic smile always was worn, I've lost my cornerstone!
Shuffled pictures of my innocence, vacation trips to Maine
How you held "it" all together?, a story unexplained
A joke, a story or advice on exactly what to do
"I'm gonna tell it like it is", "look into my baby blues"
Fast forward to my teenage years, just a look, and I'm in line
Whatever words I had to say, In you, I could confide

Take a drive, an ice cream cone, maple walnut, I recall
Being prepared for anything, the glove box, it had it all
From weekend sales and auction blocks, bottle pickin' in the field
Gettin' home, "now wash your hands!, Grandma's ready with a meal"
Decorations, holidays, a movie scene, page from a book
The cars slow down, people point and stare, sometimes take a second look
Little League and football games, my cheering section from the stands
Home for recovery with a broken leg, waited on by foot and hand
You knew it all or so it seemed, always guided in the right direction
You had the tool, knew where it was, and a very wide selection
"Smitty" or "Marv", "Dad" or "Papa", however you were known
Family or close friends, it's all the same, u said "titles are for show"

I hope that someday I live up, just half the man you are to me
I hope I pass your knowledge on, just a branch on this family tree
Your wisdom, thoughts, your views and dreams, are now instilled inside
Not ever doubting for a moment, I'll see you on the other side
Take care of Grandma, Greg and Tim! Muffin too!, she'll tag along!
All the lobster rolls, clamchowder you can eat, background playin', AJ songs
I know you haven't called me yet, I guess I'll call when you get home!
A favorite phrase we always shared, the impression never known!
For now it's time, I'd know you"d say, "I have to do what must be done"
"so dry those eyes and smile with me, cause I must be movin on"
"I know it's painfull at this stage, but remember when I say"
"I did the best with the time I had, In my heart u'll always stay"
Sleep Peacefully Papa
Love, and In my thoughts forever!
Greg

Gary,
Our deepest sympathy upon hearing of your Dad’s passing. He was a wonderful man. One of the many fond memories I have is when he bailed me out of a break job on my car that I thought I could do myself. I also recall that he became a significant influence with the Falcons. He worked hard and made many contributions that enabled a great time for all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Gary & Family,
Our families shared a history starting when you all lived on 2nd Ave. & we attended Oakland Ave. school together. Then when you moved over to 3rd. Ave. I reunited with mom & dad as I lived next door. Dad was so helpful to this young, single mom and home owner. He was also so helpful when I hurt my back on the job and had to go on compensation. His advice still helps me today. I remember him telling me " Collect your checks until 5 years before you go on SS then settle." Believe or not 25 years later I am almost to that point." My mom passed just 2 weeks ago today and though I will miss both my parents so much I am at peace knowing that my parents both lived their lives to the fullest. I hope you can find that same peace in the days ahead. Blessings Linda

Gary,
I am so sorry about your dad. I certainly know he lived life to the fullest. It was always "full steam ahead" no matter what the project was. I don't know many people who would climb a roof at any age..but even in his golden years, he just never gave up!!!
I will always remember how very kind he was to me and how
treated me like family.I am sure he will be greatly missed.
