Obituary of Melody Jean Miller

Melody Jean Miller, 60, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. Born February 13, 1957 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Miller. Melody dedicated her life to taking care of people with disabilities. She worked as a case manager for Lexington, Liberty, ALG and most recently prior to her illness for the Center for Disabilities in Albany. She proudly served her country for several years in the New York Army National Guard as a medic. Every spring, Melody and her family would go river walking when the Mohawk would get low to collect and paint rocks followed by a family picnic filled with good food and laughter. Melody also loved going to local fairs especially Saratoga and Fonda. Survivors include her sisters Linda Brockhum (Fiancé Frank Hickey) of Gloversville, Sally White of Gloversville and Mary Miller-Rhodes (Brian) of Gloversville; brother John Miller of Gloversville; Melody was "Nana" to her beloved Erica, Alexander, Quinn and Dalton and her very special niece who was like a daughter to her Amy White (Fiancé Nicholas Hamilton) of Cohoes. Melody is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her sisters Connie Miller, June Miller, Hope Miller and Faith Miller and her cherished cat Oopsie. A service to celebrate Melody's life will take place on Monday, May 1, 2017 4 P.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with the Rev. Dr. RW Williams officiating. Cremation will take place at Parkview Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Melody's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
