Obituary of Eleanore Swift
Eleanore Swift, 88, of Gloversville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010.
She was born August 7, 1922 in Rochester, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Strowger Wells.
Eleanore attended the University of Vermont. She was an avid golfer and won many awards in Vermont and Virginia. She also loved to read. Eleanore was a Republican Campaign Organizer for Richard Nixon and was very involved donating her time and efforts. She was an extremely talented oil painter. She will be sadly missed by many.
She is survived by two sons: John Swift of VA and Henry Swift of Gloversville; two daughters: Eleanore Swift of Gloversville and Linda Swift-Herzog of MI; one grandchild, Daniel Swift; a sister, Margaret Harrison of NJ ; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Eleanore was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles C. Swift; three brothers: Roger Wells, Edward Wells and Robert Wells and a sister, Frances Broadfoot.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Vermont at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanore's memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd. Loudonville, NY 12211 or the New York Association of the Police Benevolent Association, 111 Washington Avenue, Room 406, Albany, NY 12210.
