Obituary of Rita Ann Bacon
Miss Rita Ann Bacon, age 57, formerly of Gloversville, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Mercy General Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
She was born November 27, 1952 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Hugh Bacon and Rita Fitzpatrick Bacon. A 1970 graduate of Gloversville High School, she then worked at the former Britt's Dept. Store and at Finkle Distribution. She obtained her Associate's Degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1983 and her Bachelor's in Computer/Information Science in 1985 at SUNY Utica.
Rita moved to Maryland in 1985 to accept a position as a computer analyst for the National Security Agency NSA at Fort Meade. She also traveled for the NSA to England, Italy and Germany. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an avid volunteer for animal rescue.
Survivors include: four brothers and sisters, Patrick J. Bacon Lori, John E. Bacon Rebecca, Lori J. Strait Jeffrey and William C. Bacon Donna, all of Gloversville; eight nieces and nephews, Jennifer Wojeski Chris, Beth Strait, Jayson Strait, Rita Strait, Lyndsey Gates Bill, Anne Bacon, John Bacon and Mark Bacon; a grandniece, Bryn Wojeski; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rita will be sadly missed by all, especially her faithful cocker spaniel companion, "Buster".
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9 at St. Joseph's Church, Broadalbin. The Rev. Thomas Morrette will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103 or to the OBG Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 361, Newington, VA 22122.
